July. Time for vacation and reflection.
July is the time to take a breath and look back. Each of the past five months at FireWare has revolved around a different theme. Each month you could read about a new aspect of realistic staging on our socials and in our blogs. Time for a quick review.
February: all about smoke

Perhaps not the most exciting subject at first glance, but smoke forms the basis of almost every staging. No fire without smoke! Especially in simulated fires, this is literally true, because you can't create convincing flame simulations without smoke. In February, we delved into the creation of smoke layers, the use of smoke in chemical exercises and the operation of smoke machines and smoke liquids.

March: training with real fire

A staging does not have to include only simulated fire. In March we were talking about real fire and we made the distinction between Workplace First Aid and Fire Safety training and firefighter training. Workplace First Aid and Fire Safety officers often train with gas-fired extinguisher trainers . These confront trainees with real flames, and enable training with small extinguishers. In fire training you can use those same extinguisher trainers very differently. We talked about hybrid staging: a combination of real flames and simulation. The blog tells you how to use these techniques intelligently.

April: victims in the lead

Why use victims in your training? And do you choose a Lotus actor or a manikin? In April we took you through all the considerations. Unfortunately, in practice these choices are sometimes made too quickly. In this blog we will help you with a well-considered approach.

May: hazardous materials, but properly staged

Many people find exercises involving hazardous substances difficult to conduct properly. In May we looked at why that is and what you can do about it. How do you keep the attention of your group? How do you prevent it from becoming a trick? And what tools really help?

June: simulate battery incidents

In June, we took a closer look at incidents involving lithium-ion batteries. Thermal runaways are a current risk within the energy transition, and therefore important to train on. But how do you simulate this in a safe and realistic way? In the blog you will discover how.

And now ... vacation!
Maybe you are reading this from the campground. Then you'll have some nice inspiration for the upcoming practice season. And we can give away ahead of time: we will continue. In August the theme senses central. Because in a good staging you not only stimulate the eyes, but all the senses. And in September? Then we talk about flame simulations. How do you create flames that seem so real that you forget for a moment that it is an exercise?
Stay up to date through our socials and don't miss anything about realistic staging. Have a great summer!
