CREATING REALISTIC TRAINING ENVIRONMENTS

Emergency Response Unit for ACM in The Hague

ACM Training Courses was looking for a semi-mobile training facility for the Emergency Response training courses. Aart Bosmans approached FireWare with this question. Mobile, modular and linkable were the Programme of Requirements' key words. We eventually opted for a system of units which were easy to link together.

The units underwent a complete metamorphosis under FireWare's careful management. They are heat resistant, equipped with gas monitoring, water drainage, etc. The units are visually very attractive and easy to maintain. If, for example, an extinguishing trainer requires maintenance, then this will simply be temporarily exchanged for another unit. Operation by the instructor is simple with the robust remote control.

Light, sound and smoke effects have all made this training experience quite intense. The smart design allows for the relatively simple changing of scenarios. The combination of simulation and real fire effects have certainly made the exercises very effective.

The first training unit was supplied in The Hague. The scenarios are set in a kitchen and in a storage facility for waste and cleaning materials.
